About the Foundation:

The Alvin Kallicharran Foundation was founded in May 2024 by Alvin and Patsy Kallicharran and is a 501 C (3) Public Charity registered in the State of North Carolina in the United States of America.

The mission is to serve underprivilege kids in Guyana through education and sports. The foundation was inspired by Alvin, who himself came from an underprivilege background and had to overcome adversities of all kinds. Alvin, in his autobiography ” Colorblind” talks about overcoming these adversities and how the game of cricket enabled him to win a scholarship to complete his high school education. He later went on to be one of the World’s greatest cricketers and now is a cricket coach and motivational speaker. His vision is to motivate, bring hope, courage and inspire as many kids with similar backgrounds with a simple message ” I did it so can you!”

The goal of The Alvin Kallicharran Foundation is to reach as many kids as possible through grassroots efforts e.g. community groups and places of worship. The Foundation is targeting to reach 5,000 kids per annum for the next 5 years.

The Alvin Kallicharran Foundation is planning to distribute a copy of Alvin’s autobiography to young adults between the ages of 11-21 and a picture book for kids between the ages of 3-5. Currently another picture book is being written to cater for kids between the ages of 6-11. The foundation will seek donation and sponsorship to facilitate the cost of printing, shipping and to cover the cost of travel and logistics for the Volunteering team to distribute these books. No person will be paid for their services.

In 2026, The Alvin Kallicharran Foundation also plans to work with community groups and local leaders to identify kids in need and to ensure these kids have a chance to complete their primary and secondary education. The Foundation will facilitate this effort by providing the educational items required e.g.  text books, workbooks, school supplies and other pertinent items which could not be otherwise provided by the families of these kids because they simply couldn’t afford to send their child to school. This will involve sponsorship of a child from Primary to Secondary in various parts of the country.

The Alvin Kallicharran Foundation will use Alvin’s website and other social media platforms and word of mouth as no money will be spent on marketing and advertising.

In the future, 2028

About Alvin Kallicharran:

My name is Robert Caine, and it is with great pride and gratitude that I write to you about my dear friend and brother in faith, Alvin Kallicharran. Alvin’s journey is a testament to the incredible power of determination, faith, and the will to overcome adversity. Born into poverty stricken humble beginnings in Guyana, Alvin’s early life was marked by challenges that would have deterred most. However, his love for cricket and his unyielding spirit of self-belief propelled him forward. From playing on the dusty fields in the community centers of his hometown to shining on the grand stages of international cricket, Alvin’s story is one of true hardship to highlight, adversity to victory and the testimony of how far true professionalism and commitment to one’s craft can take you. Small in stature, massive in heart. His elegant batting style and resilience at the crease made him a legend of the sport, earning him a place among the greats of West Indies cricket, South African first class and English Country Cricket. Providence brought Alvin and me together, and our shared faith has been the cornerstone of our friendship. We both believe that we have been blessed to be a blessing to others. Our bond is not just built on mutual respect and admiration but on a shared mission to give back, serve, and contribute to the lives of those less fortunate. As we wrote “Colourblind” and traveled to Guyana, our hearts were deeply touched.             One poignant moment stands out vividly in my memory. One evening, I noticed Alvin wasn’t eating. Jokingly, I said, “You only eat rum?” Alvin looked up with tears in his eyes and said, “The food on my plate would have fed a family when I lived here. The memories of my childhood came rushing back, and I felt guilty with the abundance on my plate.”

That moment encapsulated the profound impact of his past on his present, and it strengthened our resolve to fill others’ plates and change lives for the better. The Alvin Kallicharran Foundation is a manifestation of Alvin’s deep desire to uplift underprivileged children in Guyana. Through this foundation, we aim to provide opportunities for academic enrichment, personal development, and community engagement. Our mission is to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the chance to achieve their fullest potential. In the words of Proverbs 22:9, “The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.” Alvin’s heart for service and his unwavering faith continue to inspire me and countless others. Together, as brothers in faith, we are committed to making a lasting impact, transforming lives, and building a brighter future for the next generation. Additionally, as Philippians 2:4 reminds us, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

Thank you for your support and for joining us on this incredible journey.

Robert Caine.
